OUR STORY:
The Clifton Forge Company, which does business as Clifton Forge School of the Arts, is dedicated to providing opportunities for better living and learning through the arts.
Clifton Forge School of the Arts offers arts education and opportunities in the fine and applied arts to people of all ages and abilities. We offer programming in a wide variety of artistic disciplines including: drawing, painting, pottery, stained glass, fused glass, blacksmithing, woodworking, photography, jewelry-making, knit & crochet, music, and sculpture.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Clifton Forge, Virginia, the School of the Arts provides a program that is both recreational and vocational, promotes economic development, and encourages cultural enrichment and creativity.
Our ambitious fundraising goal for our Give Local campaign is $27,500. With community support and generous donations this amount will allow us to:
1. Expand our classes and programming to provide more arts opportunities for people of all ages and abilities in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia.
2. Provide scholarship funding to make classes available to everyone.
3. Provide children's art and education experiences at little or no cost to families
4. Maintain our equipment and general operations so we can keep our doors open, our creative energy flowing, and arts education happening in our community!
Clifton Forge School of the Arts opened its doors at 518 Church Street to the public on January 16, 2011. The School's second building at 512 Church Street was purchased with the financial support of the Reynolds Foundation and has been designated the Clifton Forge School of the Arts Reynolds Studios. It presently houses the glass studio and the clay studio. Future plans for the Reynolds Studios include expanding the pottery studio space and adding additional glass studios on the first floor, visual and fiber arts classrooms and individual artist studios on the second floor, and a wellness center featuring yoga on the third floor, all of which foster economic development through the arts.
The Clifton Forge Company, dba Clifton Forge School of the Arts, is a 501(c)(3) organization. We are supported by private donations, corporate sponsorships, and grants from The Alleghany Foundation, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, The Nettleton Foundation, the Richard S. Reynolds Foundation, the William G. Reynolds, Jr. Charitable Foundation, the Town of Clifton Forge, Alleghany County, Virginia Commission for the Arts, and many generous individual gifts.
