The Covington Woman's Club members participate in "Read Across America" held the first week in March around Dr. Seuss' Birthday. The club supplies pencil, stickers and books to the local elementary schools. This past March, club members were video taped by our Alleghany Highlands Regional Library reading some of our favorite stories. You may find these videos on the library's website.

Club members also hold an Art and Writing Contest for school aged youth in our community. The club holds a reception for all students and families at the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library in February. Certificates and prizes were given to the winning entries in the Writing Contest and all entries in the Arts Contest received a certificate and paint brush.

The Covington Woman's Cub awards scholarships to two high school students who plan on attending collage after graduation.

The Covington Woman's Club also awards funding for student(s) participating in HOBY, Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership, empowering young people to excel as leaders. Each school in Virginia is given the opportunity to nominate an outstanding sophomore based on his or her leadership potential. That sophomore represents his or her high school at the annual HOBY Virginia Seminar.
