Mountain Momma Maternity Services

Mountain Momma Maternity Support aims to improve infant and maternal health and well-being through resources, education, and connection. 

The Support Closet is a boutique-style material resource where families can receive essential baby, prenatal, and postpartum items they need. This program is donation based, so the items in stock depend on recent donations. Our biggest ask from families are diapers, formula, clothing, and breastfeeding supplies. 

Educational classes are held periodically throughout the year and mainly focus on prenatal, labor and delivery, and lactation but community feedback has led us to add special classes such as cloth diapering. A partnership with VDH has allowed us to expand educational offer

Connection and support is crucial to the mental health and well-being of moms! MMMS has created several spaces and events that gather moms, or dads, together to meet others, talk about life, and feel supported. We run a private Facebook group called "Mom Meetups and Playdates" to facilitate and encourage connection. We also host events such as Coffee Dates at Kanawha Cafe, Pigtails and Pints (partnered with Southern Steele to teach dads how to braid their daughters hair), and are adding more events each month!

While we are making a positive impact on families everyday, we have a goal to open the Highlands Perinatal Resource Center, a one-stop-shop for support groups, education classes with room to offer yoga and other movement based classes, an expanded support closet, private lactation consult room with a CLC, and a welcoming place for moms to gather and find support.
