Who's telling the New River Valley's story?

We believe the answer should always be: The people who live there.

That's why Cardinal News is excited to establish an NRV bureau with longtime NRV resident and journalist Todd Jackson, along with Report for America corps member Erick Solorzano.

We are committed to restoring local, robust news coverage to the New River Valley. Along with Todd and Erick's work, we're building an alliance with Tech and Radford journalism students to give them real-world experience.

Since launching the Cardinal New River Valley newsletter in January, we've grown from 1,972 to 4,981 readers, and growing daily. This rapid growth confirms one thing: the New River Valley is hungry for independent, high-quality local journalism.
